Position Summary
The Psychiatrist serves as a key member of the Proactive MD integrated care team, providing high-quality psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management services for patients receiving care within employer-sponsored health centers. This role supports a collaborative, team-based approach focused on improving access, reducing barriers to care, promoting whole-person wellness, and enhancing patient outcomes.
The Psychiatrist works closely with primary care providers, behavioral health therapists, patient advocates, and care teams to deliver evidence-based behavioral health services in alignment with Proactive MD’s patient-centered model of care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based standards of care
- Provide medication management and ongoing psychiatric follow-up
- Collaborate with primary care providers regarding integrated behavioral health treatment plans
- Support management of patients with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, and other behavioral health conditions
- Provide consultation to primary care teams regarding psychotropic medication management
- Participate in interdisciplinary case reviews and care coordination meetings
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record
- Support crisis intervention and appropriate escalation of psychiatric emergencies
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication risks/benefits, and self-management strategies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational behavioral health programs
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, organizational, and payer requirements
- Support a culture of professionalism, collaboration, service excellence, and patient-centered care
Education and Experience
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of accredited Psychiatry residency training program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Active unrestricted medical license in applicable state(s)
- DEA registration and controlled substance prescribing authority
- Experience in outpatient psychiatry, integrated behavioral health, collaborative care, or primary care behavioral health preferred
- Experience with employer-sponsored healthcare, population health, or value-based care models preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary care teams
- Understanding of integrated care and population health principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage complex behavioral health cases in an outpatient setting
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and telehealth platforms
- Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care

- Combination of in-person and virtual care may be required
